Disaster Services
When a crisis strikes, The Salvation Army pulls all its resources from across the state and the country to assist, sending corps officers, trained volunteers and staff. They are at the disaster site with a cup of hot coffee or soup, a blanket, supplies as needed, a comforting smile and time to listen, console and counsel. From Katrina to the cyclones of Myanmar, we send our canteens, personnel and thousands of dollars of supplies. Thanks to the support of the community and the world, we are able to do our job and to bring relief to the suffering.
Locally, The Salvation Army periodically offers an Emergency Disaster Services (EDS) training for people in our community who would like to assist, or become part of the EDS team.
